An Unforgettable Bday

How a b'day will become soo special??
When our dear ones are there with us to share all the joy, rite?
Yes,i believe so, and this was what that made my b'day so special this year :)
Unbelievable things happened in front of me...
I was able to cut the cake in front of my classmates which i never expected :). I had always wanted to celebrate the b'days in the class. And it was the first time in three years that a b'day was celebrated in the class..
But there were some unforgettable incidents, that happened on the day before.
I truly wish that it shouldn't have occurred. I am not able to forget those till now. Tears of my loved ones pierces my heart.
How can one bear this??
I don't know whether the 'someone' who is responsible for this knows the pain in the minds of people surrounded. But I understood that I love that 'someone' very deeply though I expressed it in the form of anger :(.
A b'day full of unexpected things...
A b'day that gave me the most happiest moments in my life and a bit of sorrow...
A b'day which makes me feel that I am loved by a lot of people around...
I will keep the memories of this b'day close to my heart...
My sweetest b'day with some sort of pain...
Thanks to all my friends who made my b'day soo special :) :)

Is GPA that counts the intelligence of a student??

I wonder why most people find "GPA" as a measure of student's intelligence. Is it enough to prove the talent of a student? Are people without a good GPA stupid?Never!!GPA/marks depends not only on the intelligence of a student,it also depends on luck, presence of mind during the exam.If a student couldn't perform well in a exam,it doesn't mean he/she don't know the subject. Its sometime a fate to get a bad grade in a subject.I also doubt whether who got good grade in a subject know it well or not.Of course yes, there are such people,i have a few friends like that. Some get good grades knowing the subject well and they never forget it.Also there are some category of people who get good grade in a subject n forget the subject when that semester is over.So how can a person count on GPA to know his/her intelligence??I think this is a very stupid logic of people.Especially in an Engineering stream, there is nothing to do with only grades. The person who get a good grade in a subject should also know what is its practical application, how it is related to the real world, how to implement it.Only then he/she is deserve that grade. But who cares??The colleges in the country only care about marks/grades of a student, not his/her talent. They give importance only those scholars!!Isn't it unfair??Dont the people with low GPA deserve a good job/or a good college for higher studies if they have a knowledge of the subject and talent in them?Think friends!!Pls feel free to comment!!

Use Live CD to edit/create Partition

These days,i find many people are facing problem after making new partition using(Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management->Diskmanagement).Though they are able to make new partition using this option in control panel, after rebooting a error comes out something like this
Grub loading..
no file system found
grub_rescue>
Any way you can fix this problem taking a little pain. But its quite difficult for newbies. So my recommendation is not to use this option to make/edit a partition.Instead use a live cd which has gparted, and make/edit partitions in it whatever way you want. This is very easy and fast also. You can create filesystems of diffrent format using gparted. But makesure you created a partition of ntfs format so that you can access it in windows machine also.

Tired up with installing Reliance LG LXU-800 USB modem on Linux? I spent lot of time to make it working with my Ubuntu OS. It works very well with Windows XP and Vista. A dialler application is available on CD from the vendor for Windows. But most of the users think it will not work under Linux. I do not tested it other than Ubuntu. It may work or may not with other versions with the same commands. The specifications given by the manufacturer are: CDMA 1x technology; Data speed upto 153.6 kbps; Voice and SMS services and Standard USB interface. You may not be able to use SMS and Voice services in Linux, but it can establish connection with Internet simply by dialing. Follow the given steps carefully while installing.
After booting up Ubuntu, login as root.
connect modem in the USB port.
Open terminal window and check the usb device

One of the more advanced options for resizing your Windows Vista partition is to use the GParted Live CD, a bootable linux CD that takes you straight into GParted, the great linux utility for managing partitions. The problem is that if you resize your boot/system partition, you will be completely unable to boot without repairing windows.

Partition Wizard is a tool used to create/delete/manipulate the partitions easily.I have mentioned about Gparted in my earlier post.I was searching for similar tool which can be used in windows, and when i searched cnet.com,i found a tool called Partition Wizard.I really got impressed with this tool.It is a very easy and a handy tool, which can be used to manipulate partitions within seconds. It takes a lot of time to create partitions using diskmanagement(ControlPanel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management->Disk Management)utility in windows. This tool is very easy to understand. Those who dont know much about partitions can also easily understand everything using this tool, everything thing is graphically displayed.

I recommend readers to use this tool and save a lot of time in manipulating partitions.

Have you people ever thought of why switch statement does not work with float/double types?
I have read in text books about the constraints of switch statements but i have never thought(infact i didnt take pain to find it out :P) why switch cant be used with floating point values,
but today one of my friend asked me about it(she is doing civil engg)as she has a viva tomorrow on c programming.I was not able to answer her immediately,i searched a lot and i found some answers.I would like to share it with everybody.
The reason is...

Here is a solution to directly install a distro by directly booting the image files from the harddisk of a GNU/Linux operating system. The steps to be followed are prescribed below(Eg. Fedora 10 from Ubuntu 8.10)
1. Mount the iso image of the distro to a mount point
$ mkdir /media/fedora10
$sudo mount -o loop /home/jp/Fedora10.iso /media/fedora10

SAVE ELECTRICITY, REDUCE BILLS
Energy, its very precious, dont waste it.We have the "power",save energy..I have collected some of the tips for reducing electricity usage.
Illumination
When working on a laptop, you may not need much ambient lighting; you can use a USB lamp (5V DC) as opposed to a regular 40W or 60W bulb.
For a night lamp, use a 0 watt bulb or an LED (light emitting diode) lamp.
Walls in your house which get considerable natural light should be painted in lighter/pastel shades to reflect light. This way, artificial lighting won’t be needed during the day.
Desktop computers
Wherever possible, use LCD (TFT) monitors instead of CRTs (cathode ray tubes). If you aren’t keen on gaming, avoid installing a graphics card, in particular, models with liquid cooling solutions.

GRUB Loading stage 1.5.
GRUB loading, please wait...
Error 17
This is a common error people find when uninstalling windows where linux is also present in that machine. This is because your GRUB may have lost due to uninstalling.
This method puts GRUB back on the MBR (master boot record) of the hard drive instead of in the root partition.

wget is a nice tool for downloading resources from the internet. The basic usage is wget url:
wget http://linuxreviews.org/
Therefore, wget (manual page) + less (manual page) is all you need to surf the internet. The power of wget is that you may download sites recursive, meaning you also get all pages (and images and other data) linked on the front page:
wget -r http://linuxreviews.org/
But many sites do not want you to download their entire site. To prevent this, they check how browsers identify. Many sites refuses you to connect or sends a blank page if they detect you are not using a web-browser.

GParted-Partitioning Software

No matter which operating system you want to have installed on your machine, there's one thing they all have in common: partitions. These are logical pieces of your actual hard disk space, defining the size and the file system format for the operating systems and data that are going to be placed on them.
Being able to control the partitions is one of the most basic, most important aspects of mastering your operating system. If you have the knowledge and confidence to manipulate the layout, create it, change it or delete it, you can adapt your hardware to your varying needs, without having to blindly rely on default setups defined by vendors or other people.
I will tell my experience in using GParted ...
Around two months back,I installed ubuntu 9.04 on my friend's lap by partitioning

Today i really wanted to appreciate Google Chrome, becoz it helped me a lot today.I was really fed up downloading things with firefox and IE8 for many days,it was terribly slow compared to Chrome. Finally i installed chrome on my lap yesterday night and start downloading using it.It was really a surprise for me to see that it works smooth compared to two other top browsers. The download icon that comes at right most corner is very useful to see the status of downloading files quickly. It has a very attractive user interface also. All credits goes to Chrome.... :)
