Is GPA that counts the intelligence of a student??

I wonder why most people find "GPA" as a measure of student's intelligence. Is it enough to prove the talent of a student? Are people without a good GPA stupid?Never!!GPA/marks depends not only on the intelligence of a student,it also depends on luck, presence of mind during the exam.If a student couldn't perform well in a exam,it doesn't mean he/she don't know the subject. Its sometime a fate to get a bad grade in a subject.I also doubt whether who got good grade in a subject know it well or not.Of course yes, there are such people,i have a few friends like that. Some get good grades knowing the subject well and they never forget it.Also there are some category of people who get good grade in a subject n forget the subject when that semester is over.So how can a person count on GPA to know his/her intelligence??I think this is a very stupid logic of people.Especially in an Engineering stream, there is nothing to do with only grades. The person who get a good grade in a subject should also know what is its practical application, how it is related to the real world, how to implement it.Only then he/she is deserve that grade. But who cares??The colleges in the country only care about marks/grades of a student, not his/her talent. They give importance only those scholars!!Isn't it unfair??Dont the people with low GPA deserve a good job/or a good college for higher studies if they have a knowledge of the subject and talent in them?Think friends!!Pls feel free to comment!!

Actually CGPA is the basis of judging a student. One students grade in a subject actually reflects his knowledge about the subject. So we can't tell that its wrong to judge a student based on his CGPA or grades he/she got for that subject.

But I agree to what my friend said. Confused??

Let me explain... :)

The problem lies in how the teachers grade you.. The grading is done based on assignments and written exam. Which can be cracked easily by a bit of hard work. But you are never judged upon your practical or implementation skills of the concepts that you have learned. Thats why the I agree to my friends post.

So its better that the college change the way students are being graded rather than changing the cgpa system :)

PS : I still don't have a good CGPA.. So whatever I've posted is supposed to be true ;)

I am also a victim of the so- called CGPA system based on tutorials and exams.
CGPA system is one of the best systems available for measuring the student's intelligence. Coming to the system, it grades the one who got 93 and 95 percent marks as equals which is obviously right. But the way the universities are implementing it, has drowned its benefits.
To me, each semester is an on-going struggle to win a battle with a good sgpa. Semester life is divided into time-slots assigned for the copy cat work of tutorials and mugging up.
Even if we intend to experiment something or to practically learn a subject to the core or to have some leisure time, that will remain as a far-fetched dream for a student with high ambitions..
Projects sharpen your understanding of subjects and practical skills whereas tutorials and assignments serve the purpose of increasing your handwriting skills.
So as Arun said, why don’t students aspiring for a professional degree be evaluated based on the projects rather than on the tutorials and assignments? :)

Yes i too agree "GPA" is one of the best method!!But it actually makes people concentrate on it more than thinking of applying he/she studied.

i totally agree.
For many intelligent students GPA is too low..
because they don't concentrate just on exams..
